Corporate 5K Kickoff Meeting

CDWS/CDL TeamToday we had our Corporate 5k kickoff meeting and what a great kick-off for this event! We had a lot of great ideas and enthusiasm (and artwork provided by Kelvin for those in the Library). Some of the topics we discussed were recruiting people to participate, our team name, what we want team goals to be, and how we can help people prepare for the event.

Promoting Participation

Last year we had 8 participants (cheerleader sammy not pictured) and this year we want to shoot for 20 people. Since the event is so close to the Relay for Life, it would be a good opportunity to cross promote with that event. Friends and family can participate too, so tell them about it. We will also be setting up a blog, Facebook page, and twitter feed so people can stay up to date with the goings-on.

Promoting Wellness

The Corporate 5k is about more than just completing 3.1 miles. It's about promoting a healthy lifestyle, so we came up with the idea of doing fitness and wellness challenges for people to participate in. Jennifer will be doing some more research on wellness challenges.

Team Goals

During our team identity brainstorming, we started listing out the goals for our team, such as Wellness, Healthy Living, and Teambuilding. In the Library, Kelvin was whiteboarding while we conference-called with the folks in P2. In a serendipitous moment, Kelvin wrote on the whiteboard just as Kitzzy said from P2 "Learning to Live Well". That seemed to encompass our team goals well.

Promoting Online@UCF

We want to promote Online@UCF so Victor has graciously agreed to do a t-shirt design for us and we will be getting team t-shirts made. They're having a t-shirt design contest that we can enter. For those that would like a team t-shirt, they will be $10/each and you don't have to participate to get a t-shirt. More details to come about the t-shirts.

Group Training

To help people prepare for the event, Kitzzy and Jason will be facilitating a Couch to 5k program on Tuesdays and Thursdays at P2. Everyone is welcome! If anyone else would like to get training groups together, let us know and we can spread the word.

  1. I'll be there again this year. And I'm in for the t-shirt. Thanks for organizing this Kitzzy.
